Case Study: Supply Chain Harmonization

Insights

Overview and goals

Overview and goals

- 4 interconnected SAP clients

- more than 160 plants,

- more than 1300 users,

- more than 30 countries

Requirements:

Master and transactional data automatically available in connected systems through a complex interface exchanging data from one system to another in real time.

Unification of country-based processes into a unique region-based process. This implies a strong and continuous collaboration with business to conciliate different logics and tools in one single solution.

Adapt complex optimization algorithms to ever changing strategic and tactical initiatives of the company.

What we did

Main areas of project development

Production Planning

Aggregated planning project in PP/DS: creation of a custom view on PPT (product planning table) with relevant information.

Demand Planning

Solution developed in DP to identify optimum forecasts, a breakdown of constrained forecasts with the aim of minimizing the stock of finished products.

Inventory

Definition and application of Inventory Management Strategies and Planning Strategies (ROP and period base logics and push/pull strategies inside the Supply Chain).

Sales and Operation Planning

Sales and operations optimization with SAP IBP configuration. Implementation of S&OP process, Capacity Planning functionalities and Supply Chain KPIs.

Supply Network Planning

Solution development in SNP module of SAP APO with the optimal short term production plan obtained using SNP Heuristic, Capacity Leveling and SNP Optimizer.

Supply Chain Control Tower

Design and implementation of Supply Chain Control Tower Model, Supply Chain KPIs creation in SAP IBP.

Results

MAIN ADVANTAGES

Data synchronization and information flow

Data synchronization and information flow between Demand Planning, Supply Network Planning, Production Planning, Detailed Scheduling and to all stakeholder in order to improve communication

Aggregation / disaggregation logics

Aggregation / disaggregation logics along all levels of the network ensure a consistent planning approach throughout the Supply Chain

Cost-based optimization

The optimizer uses a cost-based optimization, considering all capacity constraints and material availability in the Supply Network. Optimization determines the optimal solution based on predefined costs for supply alternatives and demands. The optimizer will balance orders to minimize the overall cost of the generated plan.
